School Uniform

Outlined here are our expectations regarding wearing of the school uniform. The uniform is very important to us and we hope that each member of our school community wears their uniform with pride, since it marks us as distinctive from other schools and affirms our Catholic ethos. We encourage all students to wear our uniform correctly and to present themselves as smart, professional and hard working individuals.

With regard to Mobile Phones, MP3 Players, Games Consoles, E-readers & Tablet Computers.

We understand that students may have a mobile telephone for emergency situations when out of school times. In a school setting the misuse of phones can cause disruption to learning, bullying and exposure to offensive material. Parents who allow students to bring a mobile phone to school must ensure they are responsible enough to abide by the following rules:

  • Mobile phones & any other electronic equipment must be turned off and in a student’s bag at all times when on school site including breaks, lunches, before and after school.
  • If the above items are seen or heard in school they will be confiscated until 3.10pm the same day in the first instance then afterwards until 3.10 pm on Friday of the same week for repeat use.

All confiscated items are labelled and will be locked away in our safe until collection.

School has the legal right to confiscate and retain items regardless of ownership, but would prefer that students take on this responsibility and ensure that they not seen or used in school.

To support parents and their concerns for student safety we would agree to return a phone/ electronic device to a parent, (not a student), on one occasion only. This on the understanding that there can be no further exceptions and that any further use of a phone/electronic device will result in the item being confiscated until the Friday of that week.

School is happy to securely hold phones during the school day on behalf of any student who doesn’t feel they can take responsibility for not using it during the school day, so preventing items being confiscated.

NEED TO CONTACT HOME - use the phone in BART/Solutions - we will always allow students to contact home

NEED TO CONTACT A STUDENT - please call school reception a school runner or member of staff will deliver your message.

To ensure we are consistent and fair to all students and families we cannot make exceptions to this policy.
